Rainwater Tank Rebate
Rainwater tank rebate is an initiative
that is being carried out all across Australia by the individual councils who
are offering a substantial lump sum of money for anyone purchasing a new
rainwater tank for their home.
How much is the rebate worth?
Well once again the amount you would
receive it you are eligible can varied depending on your local council. The
rebate is separated in to two sections which consist of:
• How big the capacity of your rain
water tank is.
• The internal connection attached to
your water storage tank i.e. (Toilet and / or washing machine).
The water tank rebate you can receive
can range for $150 all the way through to $1500 depending on the criteria above.
How am I eligible for rebate?
You are probably thinking how I am
eligible to receive this rebate. Well depending on your local council as each
council varies, your purchased rainwater tank must comply with the following:
• Your new rainwater tank must be of a
certain capacity.
• It must have been purchased within
the stated time period.
• Your rainwater tank must be
connected by a licensed plumber to your home. (However you may be eligible to
some form of rebate if you merely purchased a tank alone)
• You must not have received a water
tank rebate before.
So if you have achieved the criteria above then you may be
eligible for a rebate. So what do I do next you ask?
How do I apply for my rebate?
If you believe that you are eligible for
a rebate for your rainwater tank then it is important for you to contact your
local council or water authority and request a rainwater rebate application kit.
Once received your should read the terms and conditions of the application and
complete. On completion this should be returned to your local council or water
authority for them to asses your claim for a rebate.

So what happens next?
Once you have sent your application kit
back to your council for your rainwater tank rebate, it will be assessed and if
you are eligible then you will usually receive payment of your rebate within 60
days of your application being received.
