Rain storage

Rain storage is one of the most economic ways of conserving water. Rainwater can be utilized in any household activity. Although, the basic components of all rain water storage systems are the same, the size and quality of the components mainly depends on the requirement of the owner. The owner has to decide how much volume of water will be required to store as the size of the rain capturing area and rainwater collection tank will depend on that. The purpose of rain storage (i.e. drinking, irrigation, flushing toilets) decides the quality of rain storage tanks and the purification mechanism installed in the system.

Underground rainwater storage

Installation and maintenance of underground rainwater storage systems is not as simple as the ones that are installed above ground but it has its own advantages. Installation of underground rainwater storage system saves a lot of space, it is capable of storing the water from the entire rain collection area, these systems are generally very robust and corrosion free. They maintain the water temperature low and the contamination risks are low in underground rainwater storage.

Rainwater storage tanks

A rainwater storage tank is the most essential component of any rainwater storage system. Since different people have different requirements, rainwater storage tanks are available in different size and ranges. These tanks can be installed above or below the ground. A good filtering mechanism should be incorporated in order to minimize contamination of water and open water tanks should not be used for collecting water for drinking purposes. Size of the tank should be estimated taking into consideration the requirement and the length of the dry weather generally experienced in a particular region.

Every household’s must have a preparedness plan that can be executed in case of shortage of water supply. Every household must have water stored in storage barrels that can come handy in case of emergency so that restriction in water supply does not restrict your household work.

Gutters and pipes are used for transportation of water and rainwater collection tanks are used to store water. The entire system is connected to the household plumbing.
