Grey Water Holding Tanks
Grey water holding tank
Water tanks and grey water holding tanks can be used for storing grey water
from showers, baths and laundry tubs and washing machines. A grey water holding
tank can be installed either under the house, above ground or as a slimline
version down the side of the house.
A grey water holding tank can come in
various capacities. Ideal for construction site office trailers and for other
bulk waste storage needs, a grey water holding tank can either be installed
permanently or even temporarily for grey water waste.
A grey water holding tank can also be used for temporary situations such as
mobile office restoration and connected to portable hand sinks and portable
toilets. Some grey water holding tanks can be used for RV motor homes and for
use under trailers. Excellent for camping and for motor homes too.
A lot of
grey water holding tanks are made for safe, reliable storage of potable water
and grey water and most agricultural and industrial chemicals. You can easily
customise a grey water holding tank to your needs, based on size, use and which
range you are going to choose. A grey water holding tank can be rugged, impact
resistant and wont leak on you and they wont rust or corrode. A grey water
holding tank can come with fittings, caps and lids and are either round or
rectangular in shape.
A grey water holding tank needs much less attention and treatment than a
black water holding tank. A lot of people will purchase a Grey water hodlling
tank for RV motor homes and they can hook it up and keep the grey water stored
for a few days or even my find it convenient to leave the gray water tank valve
open. If you use the RV Motor home for more than a week with the gray water
valve open, then is it’s a good idea to close the valve and add a holding tank
chemical to treat the water then allow it to fill. This will flush out any build
up from the kitchen sink (if it is hooked to the kitchen sink) and keeps the
tank fresh.
A grey water holding tank can be quite foul of smell if used to store grey
water in it and it hasn’t been flushed out for days. It is recommended that if
you do install a grey water holding tank then you should flush it more
frequently, as this will keep it more sanitary and less foul smelling.
There
are many things to consider if collecting and holding gray water. The gray water
holding tank should be durable and non corrodible. The gray water holding tank
should also be attached to a disinfection unit or treated. Tanks size will
depend on the available space and the amount of gray water being used. Gray
water tank placement is important for gravity feed, and for maintenance reasons.
Ensure that you install an overflow line with a one-way valve to allow excess
gray water to flow into the sewer.
