Hot Water Tank Installation

Hot Water Tank Installation: Replacing an old water tank

Hot water tank installation could be done manually. We will discuss the process of hot water tank installation in this article. Although not that detailed, it will give you the important points to remember during hot water tank installation. The first step in hot water tank installation is of course removing the old water tank. Below is a short list of the process:

• The first in removing the old water tank is turn off the gas or electricity source of the heater.

• Second, drain the heater and then open a hot water outlet or faucet to introduce air into the system.

• For gas heaters, separate the vent pipe from the draft hood which should lift off after doing so.

• When the pilot light is out, disconnect the gas line from the heater and cap it tightly.

• Lastly, remove the heater from the water piping network or system.

Hot Water Tank Installation: Steps

The next step now is the new hot water tank installation itself. The hot water tank installation must be carefully observed to avoid any damages to the system or any risks that might pose danger to you. To be able to start hot water tank installation, simply follow these steps:

• Move or transport the new tank to its location.

• Position the tank in such a way that the gas vent pipe will reach easily.

• For gas water heaters, install the heater’s new draft hood.

• Make hot and cold water connections with the use of copper pipe and union connections.

• The water heater should be fitted with a cold water gate valve or Duo valve. To do this, place the valve in a vertical section of piping to avoid sediment build up.

• For threaded pipes, unions should be installed on both hot and cold water lines.

• With all the piping connected, close the drain valve and open the cold water inlet valve to fill the new tank. Open a hot water faucet to discharge trapped air in the tank. Shut off the tap as soon as a steady flow of water is coming out. Check the tank for leaks.

• The last step of the new hot water tank installation is to connect the unit to a gas or electric source.
