Instant Gas Hot Water Systems
At some
point every home must replace the hot water heater they are using for a newer
and often more efficient system. Technology changes from year to year and things
get more efficient and more convenient for consumers and environmentally sound
for our planet. Whether you are building a new home or simply updating your
existing home and you need a new hot water heater you may want to consider an
instant gas hot water system.
Tankless gas hot water systems, demand water heaters, and point of use water
heaters have become increasingly popular in recent years. They are more cost
effective, fairly easy to have installed, flexible, they require less
maintenance and they provide an endless supply of hot water. They also take up
less space in your utility room and are far more attractive than their larger
more cumbersome tank heating counter parts.
Instant gas hot water systems supply water based on the size of the burner
rather than the size of the tank. When a faucet or appliance is turned on the
burner within the instant gas hot water system is automatically lit and the
water runs through and is heated instantly. Once the faucet or appliance is shut
off the instant gas hot water unit shuts off as well. So, you don't have water
running and energy being consumed when it is not necessary.
Tankless instant gas hot water systems are more efficient for obvious reasons.
They don't run unless you need hot water. Older tank style technology heats
water periodically throughout the day and night to ensure that hot water is
available to you when you need it. Tank style heaters cannot provide hot water
instantly so they have to run more often to maintain their hot water supply.
Additionally, instant gas hot water heaters are capable of providing hot water
at a higher flow rate than a tank style hot water heater.
Tankless water heaters are also more efficient in other ways. The average
instant gas hot water heater uses only one third of the electricity of a
standard tank style hot water heater. They also have a longer usage life span.
The average instant gas hot water heater lasts up to fifteen years.
There are certain disadvantages to having an instant gas hot water heater
installed in your home. Up front, the installation can be complicated and
pricey. Tankless hot water systems require the use of a specific flue and gas
piping which can be costly. Plus, you may need to have electrical work done to
support the system. Additionally, an instant gas hot water system does not have
the gallons of water output that an electric tankless system does. So, the gas
tankless system may not be ideally for a larger home or family. You must
evaluate your water usage with the specs associated with each individual
tankless system.

Though the instant gas hot water systems have a few disadvantages most people
feel that the positives far out weigh the negatives that are associated with
them. People who are interested in making their home more energy efficient or
environmentally sound often prefer the tankless hot water systems. Tankless hot
water systems save people money and they are far more convenient and multiple
person households. People can shower back to back or simultaneously without
worrying about getting showered with cold water. In fact, the ease they create
within your hot water usage habits is the primary attraction for most people who
install them.
